Default Being Sick and Old Sucks

Well, I have been sick for a few weeks with what my doctor thought was diverticulitus (infection of colon) After treating with many antibiotics to no avail we all decided to operate and take out the infected section.

Once inside however it turns out that I have colon cancer. Not good. Doctor states that he removed all the cancer and one lymnph node. No other organs appears infected. Outlook is good with over 50% chance of full recover (higher depending on treatment options). So hopefully I will live long enough to see my kids get old.

Anyway my sweet wife has brought me my laptop and some dvd movies to watch while I recover in the hospital. Unfortunately for me I had upgraded my hp pavalion dv 5000 to windows 7 and all the dvds play the video portion correctly but the sound is nothing but static. I am on the hospitals wireless downloading the windows media feature pack in hopes that I will get the right codes/decoders to work this out but if anyone here has an idea it would be really appreciated.

Hopefully I will be out of here in a week or so, but looking at a long road of recovery, on the plus side I get to spend more time playing guild wars.

On a different note please get that colonoscopty, dont put it off, much better to catch it early that looking a colostmy bag for months (hopefully). I do have this nifty pain pump that puts hydromorphone in me every 10 minutes and a percocet every 4 hours.

Get that colon looked at!!!!

That's definitely a rough patch you're going through, and I'm very sorry to hear that. God knows how far away well all are from you, but if we can do anything from our little corners of the internet world to help ya out, don't shy away from asking. I wish you a speedy, successful and full recovery.

My mum had and was treated for colon cancer 2-3 years ago, so I'm right with ya on the colonoscopies! It's important that people take care of themselves - especially with all the modified garbage we ingest these days (sometimes without even trying)... it's hard on our system.

Take care and please feel better soon.

ouch sorry to hear about that Tullzinski...my mom also had colon cancer about 5 years ago (while I was living in japan)...she had a successful operation and is doing well now (she is 83 this year)....

yes its good to have that colon checked, my family now has colon cancer on BOTH sides (dad's mom died of it, and now mom has it)...along with crohn's, ibs and a few other colon problems---bad bowels everywhere!

They are doing great things for people with this cancer and the survival rate is probably one of the higher ones in the cancer group.

now go and wack some charr!!
